Karol Żakowsk has a Ph.D. in political science, and serves as an assistant Professor at DEAS. He was a visiting scholar at the Kwansei Gakuin University (2008-2009) and Keio University (2012-2013, Japan Foundation Japanese Studies Fellowship), as well as a participant of a Japanese language course in the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute, Kansai (2006), and an internship in the Japanese Diet (2009). His research focuses on the decision-making process in Japan and Sino-Japanese relations. He has published one monograph and a number of articles in such periodicals as Asian Journal of Political Science, The Korean Journal of International Studies, and Hō to Seiji.
